Isolation Guidelines

Regardless of your vaccination status, you should isolate from others when you have COVID-19. You should also isolate if you are sick and may have COVID-19 but do not yet have test results.

If You Feel Sick

Stay home until you can get tested and get test results back.

If you test negative, you can end isolation (if using an at-home kit, test negative two times before ending isolation). Please take precautions to not spread illness to others.

If You Have Tested Positive

  • Stay home for at least 5 days and isolate from others in your home.
  • Wear a high-quality mask if you must be around others.
  • Do not travel.

Ending Isolation

If you did not have symptoms:

End isolation 5 days after your positive test.

If you had mild symptoms:

End isolation after 5 days if you are fever-free for 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medication) and your symptoms are improving.

If you had moderate symptoms (shortness of breath, difficulty breathing):

End isolation after 10 days.

If you were hospitalized for COVID-19 or have weakened immunity:

Consult your doctor before ending isolation.
